Truck Stop To Close Near Felixstowe

Even though the industry is in desperate need of more truck stops, which we covered in an article just yesterday, news has emerged this week that the Orwell Truckstop at Nacton, just 12 miles from Felixstowe, will be closing soon.

The popular A14 roadside lorry and restaurant stop will be making way for the new 60-acre Orwell Logistics Park, which is due to introduce 1,500 new jobs.

The existing businesses have been served with eviction notices and told they must vacate the site by mid-September, with developers starting work this autumn.

Of course, the creation of new jobs is always a positive step, but this news will come as another kick-in-the-teeth for the container drivers who use these facilities.
