Container Restitution Issues At Southampton
Congestion at the Port of Southampton has led to some carriers being unable to accept empty containers back on terminal at the moment.
With many additional containers sitting at the port, carriers such as MSC & CMA-CGM are now insisting on restitution at other locations, including Portsmouth, Portbury and even London Gateway.
This effectively means an extra journey will be needed during the round trip process, and therefore additional costs will be incurred.
We are unsure whether other carriers will be affected in the coming days.
