18 Years – Team Members Reflect

Port Express has just turned 18 years old, maybe not a major milestone for businesses, but very significant for any 17 year old approaching their eighteenth birthday.

So, what can an 18 year old do…

  • Vote
  • Buy alcohol
  • Get a mortgage or rent a house
  • Get credit cards or loans
  • Get married without parental consent
  • Gamble or buy a lottery ticket
  • Get a tattoo

Since we have no immediate plans to get a tattoo, we’ve asked some of our valuable team members to reflect on their time:

Martin said As probably one of the longest serving drivers, or ‘the’ longest serving driver, I thought I should say a few words. Long ago I finished working over the water and came to work for Port Express, which was only a handful of wagons then.

But, with a sense of humour and a bit of a laugh on the way, here we are today. The office staff have always been firm and fair, and that includes the boss. Sure, we have had our ups and downs as a company, like everyone else in the haulage game, but as a company we always seem to succeeded where others lost and we keep on growing.

There’s always been a good morale and you can live on the wages, driving a new motor every 2/3 years is an added bonus. So, looking back I will stay with PX until they have had enough of me, or vice versa. I would like to finish with a pat on the back and to say a happy birthday to Port Express – keep on trucking (cringe).

Tina said I cannot believe Port Express is 18 years old! I have been with the company from the start, the early days where long, trying to get PX off the ground in a very competitive market. I am happy to say that that is not the case now, it’s a pleasure to come to work when you like the people you work with and we have built a really great team (Friends). Happy Birthday PX
