Middle East Conflict Impacts Fuel Surcharges
With the UK’s average diesel prices reaching a 16-month high last week, fuel surcharges are increasing across transport services throughout the UK.
This rise has been driven by disruption to global oil production following the escalating conflict, along with interruptions to oil distribution caused by issues affecting the Strait of Hormuz.
As a result, oil prices have increased from around $55 per barrel at the start of the year to approximately $83 per barrel this week. These increases are already being reflected in diesel prices at UK fuel pumps.
Port Express will continue to work closely with suppliers and partners to mitigate the impact wherever possible. However, we have no alternative but to increase our fuel surcharge from week commencing March 9th 2026. We will continue to review this as the situation in the Middle East develops.
